Introduction to The Island.

Welcome to The Island. This is a story that… I can’t say too much without revealing too much. So, I give you this introduction. I will try to release a new chapter every other Sunday, but I may not be able to meet that deadline every time, so I’m not providing absolute dates.

With no further ado…

Imagine a world where nuclear war has left places burning with heat that never seems to fade. Cancer is rampant due to extremely high radiation levels. And in the reconstruction of a world left in ruins, people were divided into worldwide classes governed by ideals, lifestyles, wealth, and prejudices. Worldviews shaped and redrawn in the wake of years of chaos and terror.

Classism has replaced divisions in ethnicity. And Culturism is also rife between the dozen different classes, further widening the gap between them.

Governments are much, much smaller, and nuclear power of any kind is considered taboo and is outlawed across the globe. Even with all the class divides, mistrust between people in their own classes leaves them highly suspicious of everyone.

So in a world full of deep-seated hurt, chaos, division, sickness, and with many people struggling to survive each in their own way, all that is left is a longing for true connection, trust, and something, anything… or anyone… to hold on to…
